They grew up as best friends. Every morning, they would eat oats for breakfast and then race to a large oak tree across the barn. There were both pretty fast; Sometimes Peanut would win, and sometimes Butter would win. One day, a famous racehorse owner came to the farm looking to buy a racehorse. "That one looks like a mighty fine horse," he said, speaking of Peanut. He wound up purchasing Peanut and taking him away from the farm. Over the course of the next few years, Peanut grew to become a famous racehorse. He had the best training, won legs of the Triple Crown, and made millions for his owner. Butter, on the other hand, never left the farm. He continued to eat healthy and stay and shape, however, and still ran to the oak tree every morning. After Peanut's career was over, Peanut was sold back to the farm, and he and Butter were reunited. They were thrilled to see each other, and started chatting about old times. Eventually, Butter said: "You know, Peanut... I know you're this famous racehorse and everything now, but well... I've still stayed in shape, and I think I can still take you in a race to that oak tree!" Peanut laughed. "Come on, Butter, be serious!" he said. "I mean, I'm sure you're fast, but I'm a famous racehorse! I've had the best professional training, and I'm world renowned for my speed. You can't take me in a race!" So Peanut and Butter looked at each other and nodded, and without another word, they knew they would race the next morning! The next morning came. Peanut and Butter arose early, ate oats for breakfast, and then started their race. Both ran as fast as they could because they each had something to prove. Each was in the lead for part of the race, and towards the end, it was neck and neck! Eventually, the two realized that they were already passed the oak tree! "Wow!" said Peanut, "I must be honest... I don't know which one of us won the race!" "Nor do I," responded Butter. "I was so busy running, that I wasn't paying attention to the oak tree." At that moment, a small dog crawled out from behind a bush next to the oak tree. "Hi," it said. "My name is Chocolate. I saw the whole race. And it was incredible. And I know who won! Do you want to know?" Peanut and Butter looked at each other and said in unison, "Wow! A talking dog!"
