103327 - Changing Background Bitmap for the Windows NT Logon Screen
Comment: Chris says, That's where that is! :-)

So the actual file name is:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp

A Quick way to the Wallpaper file in the current user's folder

  1. Select the following text: (try moving over the text, triple left clicking, then right click and select Copy with either the left or right mouse button)

    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Now that the text is in the Clipboard buffer, let's move on...

  2. Press the Windows Key (between Ctrl and Alt) and R at the same time. The following Dialog box, containing old blue text, should appear:

Note: the winword is the last thing "run" from Start/Run. In this case, the last thing I did was start up Microsoft Word this way.

  3. Paste the clipboard text, via the following keystrokes. or for you mouse lovers
  4. Press either Enter key, (I like the numeric keypad one) to confirm that you would like to open the folder.
  5. And there is Internet Explorer W... which is actually Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp but that's too much to display by default:-)
Of course, if you trust your file associations for the .BMP type, you could just copy and paste this to get to the file directly:

%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp

But my text isn't blue!

The blue reverse video text indicates what is currently selected.

When you innocently bump a key, the selected text is instantly replaced with whatever was just typed. Whoops!

If this should ever happen to something important, you can get the zapped text back by pressing Ctrl-Z (which "undoes" the action of you zapping of your text).
Of course, if the old text in the box isn't all blue, then Right Click and then left or right click on the Select All entry which now is clickable.
Then resume your pasting :-)
